CEDAR CITY — Three people were arrested Monday following the discovery of a large marijuana garden outside of Cedar City.

Acting on a tip from a citizen, agents from the Iron County Sheriff's Office, Drug Enforcement Administration, the U.S. Forest Service and the Iron/Garfield Narcotics Task Force started at 5 a.m. the take down of a pot field near Pinto, Utah, about 18 miles west of Cedar City. MODENA, Iron County — Public safety officials Monday mourned the loss of two Idaho men who died while fighting a large fire in Utah's Iron County.

Todd Neal Tompkins, 48, and Ronnie Edwin Chambless, 40, were dropping fire retardant from a P2V heavy air tanker over the White Rock fire when the plane crashed in the Hamblin Valley area shortly after 2 p.m. Sunday. Both men were from Boise.

Tip sets off search for cabin burglar

CEDAR CITY - A number of Southern Utah law enforcement agencies worked together Saturday after the Iron County Sheriff's Office received a call at approximately 11 a.m. reporting that burglary suspect Troy James Knapp may have been sighted in Cedar City.
